Box Score OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's basketball team dropped its second game of the weekend on Saturday, falling 87-68 to South Dakota State at Ralston Arena. The Mavericks are now 7-9 (1-3 Summit League) on the season, while the Jackrabbits improve to 11-7 (2-2 Summit League).
Senior forward
Mike Rostampour achieved the sixth double-double of his career and his third of the season, finishing with 11 points and a game-high 13 rebounds along with two steals.
Freshman forward
Tre'Shawn Thurman posted a team-leading 12 points with eight boards, an assist and a block, and junior forward
Jake White matched him with another 12 points, alongside seven rebounds. Junior guard
Marcus Tyus added 11 points and eight caroms and a pair of assists.
Omaha struggled offensively, shooting a season-low .269 (18-of-67) and .063 (1-of-16) from long range. South Dakota State finished at .475 (29-of-61), including .429 (12-of-28) beyond the arc. The Mavericks won the rebounding battle, 48-46, and committed just 10 turnovers.
South Dakota State was led by 25 points from George Marshall, who shot 10-of-18 from the floor and 5-of-8 from three. Reed Tellinghuisen also hit five treys for the night, going 7-of-10 en route to 19 points. Deondre Parks chipped in another 18 points, and Cody Larson had 11 with seven rebounds. Lane Severyn led the Jacks on the glass with eight boards.
The first half saw six lead changes before a Tellinghuisen triple put the Jackrabbits ahead, 16-13 at 13:49. SDSU used an 11-3 run to close out the half, helping the Jackrabbits secure a 41-32 lead at break.
The Jacks started the second half with five points from Marshall to go up by nine again, 46-37. Two free throws from White cut it to seven, but another Marshall triple made it 49-39. South Dakota State shot .517 (15-of-29) in the second stanza and was aided by a 10-0 run midway through the half, eventually taking its largest lead of the game with 5:16 left at 74-52. The Jackrabbits went on to take the win, 87-68.
