DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. – Freshman Phillip Baumberger shot a team-low score of 226 to lead the Omaha men's golf team to first place at the South Dakota Coyote Classic on Tuesday at Dakota Dunes Country Club.

The Mavericks finished with a team score of 908 over 54 holes to edge runner up North Dakota State by two strokes.  Host South Dakota came in third with a score of 912.  It was UNO's second straight finish at No. 1 after tying for the top spot at the UNO Invitational on Sept. 16.

Baumberger, who was tied for the team lead after the first 36-holes, shot five-over-par 77 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for eighth overall.  

Senior Alex Holtan carded a 78 in round three for a final score of 230, good for 17th overall in the field of 45 golfers.  Karl Krieser shot UNO's best round of the day, 75, that put him third on the team and in a tie for 18th with a score of 231.

Brandon Sletmoen was fourth for the Mavs and tied for 20th overall with a 54-hole score of 232 that included a final round of 82.  Taylor Sidzyik, who was tied with Baumberger for the team lead after day one, shot 84 in round three to finish at 233, good for 22nd.  

Caleb Haight, playing as an individual, carded a 78 in round three to finish at 238, good for a tie for 33rd.

The Mavericks are back in action at the Nebraska Intercollegiate hosted by the Nebraska Golf Association on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 10-11 in Norfolk, Neb.
