NEBRASKA CITY, Neb. –
Karl Krieser shot a new school record score for 54 holes as the Omaha men's golf team tied for first in their own tournament, the UNO Invitational before losing the ensuing sudden death playoff to Weber State.
The two schools tied with scores of 894 in the 54-hole event. Weber State won the one-hole playoff by a best four-of-five team score of even versus the Mavericks' score of +3. Summit League member Oral Roberts was third at 896.
In addition to the school record, Krieser set a new career best with a 54-hole total of 215 to lead the Mavericks in scoring and finish second overall. He shot 72 in the final round and became the first Maverick to finish a tournament under par (-1).
Brandon Sletmoen and
Alex Holtan finished tied for second in team scoring and tied for 16th overall with three-round totals of 228. Both players were sharp in round three as Sletmoen shot 71, his first subpar round of the year, while Holtan fired a 73.
Phillip Baumberger was fourth for UNO with a total score of 229. He shot 78 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 24th overall.
Taylor Sidzyik completed the scoring for the Mavs with a total of 235 than included a final round of 80. He tied for 41st.

Ryan Mayer (239/T-49),
Lucas Gervais (243/T-53) and
Ryan Milks (256/65) all played as individuals.
The Mavericks return to the course on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 29-30 at the South Dakota Coyote Classic at Sioux City, S.D.
