Box Score PEORIA, Ill. -- Saturday marked a special milestone for head coach
Bob Herold, as he became the winningest coach in Omaha baseball history with the Mavericks' 7-0 shutout of Bradley at Dozer Park.
Herold, in his 15th season at the helm of the UNO program, recorded his 465th career win to pass former coach Bob Gates, who had 464 from 1976-99.
The non-conference victory also pushed Omaha to 18-13 on the season, while Bradley dropped to 20-15.
Senior
Steven Schoonover (2-1) threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball to earn his second win of the season. The Olympia, Wash., native struck out three and walked one. Cameron Roegner (5-3) took the loss for BU, giving up five runs on six hits over 1.0 innings of work.

Brett Bass led the Mavericks with three hits for the day and scored once. Sophomore
Cole Gruber was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, while sophomore
Clayton Taylor finished 2-for-5 with a run and two RBI. Sophomore
Alex Schultz also had a multi-hit effort, finishing 2-for-5 with a run scored and another driven in.
As in Friday night's series opener, Omaha jumped out early on the Braves in the first inning. The Mavs plated five runs on six hits, opening the inning with four consecutive hits.
Gruber led off the game with a single through the left side, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error. Taylor then doubled to right center to score Gruber, and an infield single by Schultz put runners on the corners. Bass singled to third, and Taylor came in on a fielding error to make it 2-0. Caleb Palensky pushed Schultz across, and senior
Tyler Splichal later doubled down the left field line to score Bass. With sophomore
Andrew Dergan's RBI single up the middle, Splichal tallied the Mavericks' final run of the inning, and UNO led 5-0.
In the top of the ninth, UNO added two more scores by way of consecutive RBI singles. Taylor sent one up the middle to score junior
Justin Threlkeld, followed by another to the same place by Schultz to push Gruber across. In the bottom of the inning, the Mavs shut down Bradley with three straight groundouts, giving Omaha the 7-0 win and its fourth shutout of the year.
Omaha returns to action on Sunday, April 20, closing the weekend series at Bradley. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. at Dozer Park in Peoria, Ill., and links to live stats and video will be available on OMavs.com.
