Mavs Fall to Lamar, No. 18 Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. - The Omaha men's tennis team dropped a pair of matches to Lamar and Oklahoma State on Thursday at the Greenwood Tennis Center. Lamar beat UNO 4-0, before 18th-ranked Oklahoma State topped Omaha, 4-0.

The losses drop the Mavs to 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the Summit League.

Lamar 4, Omaha 0
Three singles matches and one doubles match did not complete with the outcome already determined. In No. 3 doubles play, Lamar's Jeandre Hoogenboezem and Steven McMullan led James McManus and Erik Anderson, 6-3, before the match ended with the Cardinals having already locked up the doubles point with wins in the Nos. 1 and 2 matches.

At No. 1 doubles, Michael Feucht and Juuso Laitinen defeated Adam Dockery and Eric McKnight, 8-1, while Tyler Mercier and Colin Buckley fell to Nikita Lis and Mikko Rajamaki at No. 2 doubles, 8-2.  

Mercier was leading Lis, 6-1, 2-5 at No. 1 singles, while McManus was trailing Rajamaki 5-7, 2-0 at No. 5 when the match ended. Anderson had his No. 6 singles match against McMullan stopped after dropping the first set, 7-5, with the outcome having already been decided. 

Among the matches that did complete, the Cardinals won all three in straight sets. Feucht beat Dockery at No. 2 singles, 6-2, 6-2, while McKnight dropped the No. 3 singles match to Laitinen, 6-0, 6-1. Buckley was also defeated by Carl-Phillip Lindqvist at No. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-1.

#18 Oklahoma State 4, Omaha 0
Three singles matches and one doubles match did not complete with the outcome already determined. Trevor Horstmann and Nathan Roper were leading in the No. 3 doubles match against Erik Anderson and Colin Buckley, 6-2 when the match was stopped with the doubles point already having been won by OSU.

Adam Dockery and James McKnight fell to Lucas Gerch and Sebastian Sachs, 8-0 at No. 1 doubles while Nicolai Ferrigno and Chris Haworth defeated Tyler Mercier and James McManus, 8-1 at No. 2 doubles.

Mercier and Brady Bohrnstedt were tied 6-6 at No. 1 singles, and Gerch was leading Dockery 6-1, 3-2 at No. 2 when the match ended. Anderson had his match stopped against Horstmann, down 6-2, 2-0 with Oklahoma State having already clinched the match.

Of the matches that did complete, the Cowboys won all three in straight sets. Haworth defeated McKnight at No. 3 singles, 6-0, 6-0, while McManus fell to Ferrigno by the same score at No. 4. Buckley was defeated at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-2 by Roper.

The Mavs will be on the road again tomorrow, playing Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Okla. at 10 a.m. Omaha will then travel immediately to Fayetteville, Ark. to play two matches with Arkansas starting at 7 p.m.
