OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha men's tennis team swept Hastings College, 7-0 at the Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
The Mavericks (4-3) went 2-0 on the weekend, having defeated Kansas Wesleyan 7-0 on Saturday. UNO will play its next eight contests on the road, as part of their annaul spring break road trip. Omaha will start with a 9 a.m match against Lamar on Friday, March 14 before playing Oklahoma State at 1 p.m.
The Mavs won all three doubles matches before winning all six singles matches. Eric McKnight and Adam Dockery beat McKay Inman and Seton Bachle at No. 1 doubles, 8-5. Tyler Mercier and Colin Buckley then clinched the point for the Mavs by winning their No. 2 doubles match 8-1 over Mark Gueswell and Kolby Matheny. In the last doubles match, James McManus and Erik Anderson defeated Joe Ritzdorf and Tanner Sandvick, 8-4.
In singles play, Mercier finished off Inman at No. 1, 6-1, 6-1. Dockery was victorious over Bachle, 6-0, 6-1, in the No. 2 spot, and McKnight picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win over Ritzdorf at No. 3. Buckley outlasted Isaac Mertens in his No. 4 match, 6-2, 2-6, 10-8 while McManus picked up a 6-3, 6-2 win over Gueswell. Finally, Eric Anderson picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Sandvick at No. 6.
