This WeekendThe Omaha men's basketball team (14-9, 3-4 Summit League) starts the back half of league play this Saturday, Feb. 8, hosting Western Illinois. Scouting the Western Illinois LeathernecksWestern Illinois enters the weekend with a record of 9-13 (3-4 Summit League) after a 77-64 loss at Fort Wayne on Feb. 1. Garret Covington paced the Leathernecks with 18 points, while Adam Link added 13 points and a team-best five rebounds. Jabari Sandifer chipped in another 12 points, and Mike Miklusak had 10.
Covington has led WIU with 14.4 points per game this season, while Michael Ochereobia has pulled down 5.0 rebounds per contest. The Leathernecks are led by head coach Jim Molinari, who holds a record of 78-97 over six seasons at the school and has a career mark of 301-283 over 20 seasons.
Western Illinois leads the all-time series with Omaha, 8-3, having won five straight games over the last three seasons. The Mavericks' last win over WIU came in 1976-77 with an 89-71 victory.
Quick Hits•Kenpom.com lists Omaha's adjusted tempo of 74.4 possessions per 40 minutes at fourth nationally.
•According to RPIRatings.com, UNO's RPI is 133rd nationally through games of Feb. 2, the third highest of any Summit League team.
•The Mavericks' average scoring margin of 7.7 points is 61st in the country. UNO's wins have come with an average margin of victory of 18.5 points, while their losses have come with an average of 9.2.
•UNO is 10-2 this season when scoring 80 or more points in a game.
•Omaha finished with a season-high .556 shooting percentage in its win at South Dakota State on Jan. 18. In the last two years, Omaha is 13-5 when shooting .500 or better as a team, including a perfect 9-0 this season.

•Omaha tallied its 14th win of the season on Feb. 5, defeating Peru State at home, 86-62. This season marks the Mavericks' highest wins total since going Division I.
•The Mavericks' five-game win streak from Nov. 25 to Dec. 14 was their longest stretch since beginning the Division I transition, and it was the UNO's longest since the 2010-11 season.
•Omaha received votes in the CollegeInsider.com mid-major poll for five straight weeks from Dec. 16 to Jan. 13. This year marks the Mavericks' inclusion for the first time in school history.
•Over 2012-13 and 2013-14, Omaha is 14-5 when junior guard
CJ Carter scores 15 or more points in a game. Carter led the Mavericks in three straight games to open the year with 18 points at Northern Illinois, 22 at Iowa and 22 vs. UMKC.
Last Time Out: vs. Peru State (Feb. 5)The Omaha men's basketball team played its final non-conference game of the year on Wednesday, defeating Peru State, 86-62, at Ralston Arena. Junior forward
Mike Rostampour had a career day, posting career highs of 24 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Mavericks. The West St. Paul, Minn., native finished a perfect 10-for-10 from the field and added two assists, a steal and a block.

CJ Carter joined Rostampour in double figures with 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal, and senior guard
Justin Simmons added 10 points with three steals and an assist.

Devin Patterson matched Simmons with three steals each. Hagerbaumer was also flawless from the field, shooting 4-for-4 for the day.
As a team, Omaha shot 51 percent (34-of-67) from the field, while Peru State came in at 52 percent (26-of-50). The Mavericks finished with a season-high 18 steals and forced 28 Bobcat turnovers, from which they scored 39 of their 86 total points.
Rostampour Makes His MarkJunior forward
Mike Rostampour has started all 23 games this season after redshirting in 2012-13. The transfer from St. Cloud State has averaged 7.9 points and a team-leading 6.7 rebounds per game, the latter of which ranks fourth in the Summit League. This year, Omaha is 8-2 when Rostampour pulls down eight or more rebounds in a game. Rostampour has hit his career best of 12 boards twice -- first at Fort Wayne on Jan. 31 and again against Peru State on Feb. 5, a game in which he also had a career-best 24 points.
Home Sweet HomeThe 2013-14 season marks UNO's second season playing at Ralston Arena, which serves as the home of Maverick men's basketball, Omaha Lancers hockey and Omaha Beef indoor football. The Mavs will play a full Summit League schedule this year with seven conference games, and in total they have 14 games on the slate at Ralston.
The Mavericks are 8-1 at home this year, starting with six straight wins over UMKC (101-71), South Carolina State (91-59), Iowa Wesleyan (86-36), Waldorf College (100-66), CSU Bakersfield (93-88) and Seattle (76-69). UNO was dealt its first loss on Jan. 23 against Denver before taking a 77-73 win over South Dakota on Jan. 25 and another over Peru State, 86-62, on Feb. 5. UNO's eight home wins have come at an average margin of 19.1 points, and the Mavs have scored an average of 85.6 points per game on their home court.
