Box Score OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha volleyball team opened the conference portion of its schedule on Saturday evening, falling 3-0 (16-25, 9-25, 12-25) to Western Illinois at Sapp Fieldhouse. With the loss, the Mavericks are now 5-11 (0-1 Summit League), while the Leathernecks improve to 7-9 (1-0 Summit League).

Megan Schmale led Omaha with six kills, while sophomore
Michaela Schimmer had four kills, seven assists and five digs. Sophomore
Bailey Baxter finished with 15 assists and a team-leading eight digs.
Western Illinois proved a fierce challenge, as the Leathernecks hit .513 for the night. Samantha Fournier led the attack, totaling 15 kills on .650 hitting with four service aces and five digs, while Heather Smith joined her with 13 kills on .750 hitting with just one attack error. Setter Sarah Fetter had 36 assists for the night, and Molly Murphy finished with 14 digs. Ann Miller led WIU's effort at the net with four blocks.
