OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha women's tennis team split its two Summit League matches on Friday, defeating IUPUI, 4-2, before falling 4-0 to South Dakota State at Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center. The Mavericks are now 7-12 (2-3 Summit League).

MATCH 1 -- OMAHA 4, IUPUI 2
Omaha won two doubles matches to start the day for a quick 1-0 lead. Alex Tran and Lindsay Weideman defeated Shelby Hullett and Rachael Bridgegroom, 5-4, at No. 1, followed by Molly Matricardi and Tiffany Hottman over Bobi Modesto and Vanessa Whyte at No. 2, 8-2.

In the singles portion, Tran posted a 7-6, 4-4 win at No. 1 that was cut short due to an injury but started Omaha strong. Hottman trailed in her match but rallied to down Bridgegroom at No. 4 by a score of 2-6, 6-4, 6-3, and Pierson tallied a win over Jesika Bays, 6-0, 6-2, at No. 5.

MATCH 2 – SOUTH DAKOTA STATE 4, OMAHA 0
Matricardi and Hottman tallied Omaha's only win in the second match with an 8-2 triumph at No. 2 doubles, but SDSU took the doubles point with an 8-0 win at No. 1 and an 8-3 score at No. 3. The Jackrabbits then won three singles matches in straight sets at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 to take the match by a score of 4-0.

Omaha returns to action on Saturday, April 13, hosting South Dakota at 2 p.m. at Hanscom Brandeis Tennis center.
