OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO men's tennis team notched a 4-3 win over Oral Roberts on Saturday at Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center.

The Mavericks improved to 3-3 on the season, while the Golden Eagles fell to 0-8.

UNO claimed the doubles point by taking the first two matches to complete. Carlos Ramos Salazar and Conner Tieszen earned an 8-4 win over Jason Mechali and Pedro Moreno at No. 1, and Connor Larson and Matt Frost beat Parker Allen and Braxton Bates, 8-6, at No. 3 to clinch the doubles point. ORU's Fabian Zierleyn and Nathaniel Avery won the No. 2 match 8-7 over UNO's Eric McKnight and Erik Anderson, although it didn't affect the team score.

In singles play, Larson beat Moreno, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3 singles, then Allen knocked off Ramos Salazar, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles to make the team score 2-1 UNO. Mechali tied the match at 2-2 with a 6-4, 6-2 win over McKnight at No. 2 singles, and ORU took a 3-2 lead when Zierleyn beat Tieszen, 5-7, 6-1, 7-5, at No. 1 singles.

But the turning point in the match came when John Ellis beat Avery, 6-2, 6-0, at No. 5 singles to tie the match. Frost clinched the victory for UNO with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 6 over Bates.

The Mavericks next head to Spring Break Tennis at Hilton Head Island from March 19-22.
