Omaha worked out to a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first. The Mavericks loaded the bases with singles from Mortensen and redshirt freshman
Clayton Taylor and a walk from Keele, and senior
Tyler Splichal reached on a catcher's interference call to score Mortensen for an unearned run.
Keele starred in the third inning, as his solo homer over the right field wall extended Omaha's lead to 2-0. The roundtripper was UNO's second of the season.
CU caught up to the Mavericks in the third, scoring two runs on a pair of hits. Jordan Makovicka singled up the middle, and Ryan Fitzgerald doubled to left, putting two runners on. An RBI groundout by Kevin Lamb brought in Makovicka, and Fitzgerald came in on another RBI groundout by Brad McKewon to stall the game at 2-2.
In the fourth, Palensky started it off with a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt from Bass. Mortensen then singled through the left side to push Palensky to third, and two batters later, a wild pitch allowed Palensky to cross for the go-ahead run at 4-3.
The Mavericks posted an insurance run in the fifth, spurred by Keele's leadoff walk and Splichal reaching on a fielding error to put two runners on. Both moved into scoring position on freshman
Alex Schultz's sacrifice bunt, and an RBI groundout from redshirt freshman
Connor Messinger allowed Keele to tally the unearned run that pushed it to 4-2.
