Mavs Fall to South Dakota State, 6-1

OMAHA, Neb.
- The UNO men's tennis team fell to future Summit League foe South Dakota State on Friday night, 6-1, at Hanscom Tennis Center.

Ben Williams picked up the only win for the Mavs (2-4), knocking off Christian Maki at No. 6 singles, 2-6, 7-5, 10-8. Williams, a senior from Papillion, Neb., is now 2-0 for the Mavs this spring season.

Justin Pyle beat Carlos Ramos Salazar, 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. In the No. 2 slot, Dominic Rossetto defeated Anthony Forcucci, 6-2-6-4. At No. 3, Parker Lawley beat Connor Larson in a tiebreaker, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7. At No. 4, James Thorp got past Peter Greteman, 6-0, 6-3. Alejandro Marin beat Brandon Otoski, 7-5, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.

In doubles play, Thorp and Lawley earned an 8-5 win over Ramos Salazar and Forcucci at No. 1. Rossetto and Pyle beat Greteman and Larson at No. 2, 8-6, and Maki and Salo knocked off Otoski and Andrew Lescelius at No. 3, 8-6.

The Mavs are back at home on March 6 to host Doane outdoors at Koch Tennis Center (subject to change) at 3 p.m.
