ATCHISON, Kan. – Behind career high scoring efforts from senior center

Mitchell Farr, the UNO men's basketball team coasted to a 75-49 win over Benedictine College Tuesday night at Ralph Nolan Gymnasium. With the victory, the Mavericks improve to 4-6 on the year, while the Ravens drop to 5-6.
Ring led all scorers with 15 points, shooting 7-for-11 from the field. He also pulled down three rebounds and had two assists and two steals. Farr finished 5-for-6 from the floor and was a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range, totaling 14 points, along with three steals. Senior guard Mitch Albers joined the duo in double figures, contributing 13 points on three 3-pointers, as well as five rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block.
Sophomore forward Matt Hagerbaumer grabbed a career-best nine rebounds, topping his previous career mark of six boards set on Sunday at Michigan State. Hagerbaumer added six points, three steals, two assists and a block against the Ravens.
Freshman guard CJ Carter and junior guard Jacques Coleman also chipped in a team-leading five assists apiece.
As a team, UNO shot 53.7 percent from the floor and went 12-for-20 (.600) from behind the arc. The Mavs also scored 32 of their points off 21 BC turnovers, and the UNO bench accounted for 40 points. Benedictine finished with a team shooting percentage of 40 percent for the night.
Benedictine was paced by 14 points from Chris McFaul, who matched Farr's game-leading four treys for the night. Charlie Wallrapp added a team-leading seven rebounds with six points, a block and a helper.
Nebraska Omaha opened with five straight points from junior forward Alex Welhouse, but the Ravens battled back to tie it at 10-10. The Mavericks then scored 20 unanswered points, helped by four 3-pointers and capped with a triple from junior guard Tyler Egli to go up 30-10. By the end of the first half, UNO had taken a 37-21 lead going into the locker room.
In the second half, Farr accumulated nine points – all on threes – with another seven coming from Ring, and Hagerbaumer grabbed six rebounds. The Mavericks shot an outstanding 70 percent (14-for-20) as a team while holding Benedictine to a 37.5 percent shooting performance. With five minutes remaining in the game, Farr hit a 3-pointer that gave UNO a 30-point advantage, and back-to-back field goals by Hagerbaumer and Ring gave the Mavs their largest lead of the game at 75-41. Despite 11 second-half points from McFaul, Nebraska Omaha finished with the 75-49 win.
UNO returns home on Saturday, Dec. 10, hosting future Summit League foe IPFW in the first showdown with a fellow Division I opponent in Sapp Fieldhouse history. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
