BOULDER, Colo.-- The UNO cross country team finished seventh overall at the 26th annual Rocky Mountain Shootout in Boulder, Colorado on Saturday. Amanda Vorthmann finished first for the Mavs for the second consecutive race and was 39th overall.
The Mavericks finished with 135 points which put them fifth among the other Division I teams in the race. Colorado won with 16 points, earning five of the top six spots.
Vorthmann finished with a time of 23:40 over the 6K course in the mile high altitude of Boulder. Freshman Mikayla Peck raced to second place for the Maverick squad with a time of 24:24, her highest team finish this season. Freshman Kristin Rogers finished 64th overall and third for the team with a time of 24:41. Finishing fourth for the Mavericks was junior Brittany Phillips. She recorded an 81st place finish with a time of 25:15. Sophomore runner Kayla Fenske finished fifth for the Mavs with a time of 25:42, good for 93rd overall.
Nine runners competed for the Mavericks. Junior Nicole Behm was 100th overall with a time of 26:00. The seventh, eighth and ninth runners for the Mavericks were freshmen Ashley Kildow (122nd), Lydia Martin (124th) and Kelsey Green (148th). These Maverick runners finished with times of 27:01, 27:16 and 29:08 respectively.
Shalaya Kipp of the University of Colorado won the race with a time of 20:29.
The UNO cross country team will next be in action October 8 in McCook Lake, South Dakota at the Briar Cliff Invite. The race is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
