DURANT, Okla. - The Mavericks scored six runs off just four hits as they defeated Southwestern Oklahoma State, 6-1 Friday afternoon in the Southeastern Oklahoma State South Central Shootout.

Nebraska-Omaha opened the season 2-0 and will continue action at SOSU Saturday against Abilene Christian at noon and at 4 p.m. against Saint Edwards. Head coach Jeanne Scarpello's next win will be her 400th as she is in her 10th season at UNO.

Treightin Yates drove in two runs in the third inning and scored another to give UNO a 4-1 lead. The Mavs added two more when Kristin Wellwood drove in a run off a single and Katelyn Hinton drove one in with a sacrifice fly.

Molly Feichtinger walked in the first inning and later scored on a wild pitch to start the scoring.

Beth Haley pitched for UNO and allowed one run off three hits with eight strikeouts.
