OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks fought back from deficits in each set on their way to a 25-16, 25-20, 25-18, win over Northwest Missouri State Wednesday night at Sapp Fieldhouse.
The No. 20 Mavericks improved to 20-10 and 10-7 in the MIAA. They recorded the 27th 20-win season in the program's 40th year of competition and the first since 2006.
UNO will continue action Friday at Missouri Western State at 7 p.m.

Lizzy Mach and Ellen Thommes led UNO with 11 kills each. They both recorded just one error and hit .500 or better. Emily Myers led with 36 assists and Angie Reicks# led with 15 digs.
The Mavericks had to battle back from deficits in all three sets. The Bearcats led 5-1 early in the first set. The Mavericks answered with a 7-2 run to go up, 9-7. After a 12-12 tie they out-scored NWMSU, 13-4 the rest of the way for the win.
In the second set the Bearcats led midway through, 16-13. UNO later used a 5-0 run to take a 20-17 lead and the Mavs held it the rest of the way.

Sara Kampschnieder# tied it at 7-7. Myers then scored an ace to give the Mavs the lead and they held it for good.
UNO hit .232 as a team and kept the Bearcats to a .073 percentage. The Mavs blocked nine shots while NWMSU got a hand on six.
Three Bearcats shared the team lead with six kills and Ashley Mitchell, one of the three, had five blocks.
Thommes had six blocks to lead UNO.
