OMAHA, Neb. - The University of Nebraska at Omaha women's basketball team won its first game of the UNO Thanksgiving Classic with a 71-28 rout of Oklahoma Panhandle State Friday night at Sapp Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks outscored the Aggies 40-17 in the first half and 31-11 in the second to earn their second win of the season while improving to 2-2. OPSU dipped to 2-4 on the year with the loss.
The Aggies turned the ball over 42 times in the game and the Mavs scored 35 points off OPSU turnovers. The Mavericks forced 26 turnovers from steals in the game. Freshman #
Jamie Nash# accounted for a career-high six of them.
The Mavericks got out to a 9-2 lead in the first five minutes of action and controlled the game from there on, building a 23-point lead at the half. UNO shot 43 percent from the field in the first half. #
Alyssa Green and Ashley Nelson# each dropped nine points in the first half. Green went 2-4 from beyond the arc in the first half.

Jessica Zaruba# scored eight in the first half and sniped three steals. She added eight in the second half to lead the Mavericks with 16 in the game. The freshman guard finished with four steals and grabbed six rebounds.
Three other Mavs finished in double figures on the night. Nelson finished with 15 and a team-high seven boards. Green scored 11 and tallied four steals.

Paige Frauendorfer# scored a career-high 10 points on the night. She also swiped three steals, grabbed three rebounds and dished out three assists.
The Mavericks dominated in points in the paint with a 36-6 advantage and got some assistance off the bench as the Maverick substitutes outscored the Aggies' bench, 27-6.
UNO will play its second and final game of the UNO Thanksgiving Classic Saturday at 3:30 p.m. against Chadron State College (0-2).
