Tyler Bullock# hit 12 of 13 shots for 28 points and the Mavericks shot 61 percent from the field in a 79-71 win at Rockhurst Wednesday evening.
Nebraska-Omaha improved to 2-0 while the Hawks dropped their opener and fell to 0-1. The Mavericks will return to action Tuesday at home against Peru State at 7 p.m.

Jeff Martin scored 14 points and Dion Curry# added 13 to join Bullock in double figures.

Andrew Bridger# had another double-figure assists day with 10 helpers to guide UNO's offense.
The Mavericks overcame a minus-11 margin in turnovers by going 28 for 46 from the field while the Hawks were 24 of 74 for a 32 percent effort. The Mavs also gained over RU with a 46-29 advantage on rebounds.
The Mavericks led the entire first half. They opened up with a 6-0 run with Bullock getting four of those points. His lay-up at 11:54 gave UNO an eight-point lead and a 3-pointer by Martin gave the Mavs a 14-point lead at the 10:27 mark.
Rockhurst cut the lead to two at the five-minute mark on a jumper by Jawan Davis and then a 3-pointer by Jazz Neal made it 29-28, UNO just 30 seconds later.
Martin made both his 3-point attempts in the first half and he stretched it to four straight in the second half. His fourth gave the Mavericks the lead back after RU got it at the 16:18 mark of the second half.
The Hawks were able to tie the score twice after that, the last at 13:31, but they never led again.
Bullock hit two straight free throws to put the Mavs up by nine at the 2:04 mark. Counting those two shots, the Mavericks made nine of their final 10 free throws to hold on.

Matt Newman# had 11 rebounds to lead UNO while
Eugene Bain grabbed 10 missed shots. For Bain, its was his second straight double-figure rebounding game.
Aaron Hill led the Hawks with 29 points as he was 7-of-9 from 3-point range.
