OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO swimming and diving team took on Division I big sister Nebraska in a Friday afternoon matinee at HPER pool. The Huskers earned the win, 219-78, in a meet that featured some unorthodox events.
Nebraska opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay and took the top two places in the 1000 freestyle. Still, Mavericks #
Kylie Hubbell and Carli Bilbrey# swam personal bests in that event, finishing third and fourth at 11:19.67 and 12:02.14 respectively.
The Mavericks took second place in the 25 yard freestyle, an event not typically run in dual meets. #
Amy Bechdolt# swam a 14.25 in the abbreviated splash and dash, finishing second to the Huskers' Karen Criss.
The Mavs were 2-3 in the 25 yard breaststroke as #
Laura Kemp and Carrie Murphy# finished at 15.40 and 15.60.
Kemp and Murphy were at it again in the 50-yard breaststroke, going 2-3 with times of 32.06 and 32.96.
UNO earned a win and three of the top four places in the 500 yard freestyle. #
Lindsey Kline# took first in a time of 5:11.34. Bechdolt was second at 5:13.14, and #
Lucy Zamecnik# was fourth with a time of 5:29.10.
The Mavericks swim in their final dual meet of the season on Saturday morning when they visit South Dakota. The two schools have already faced each other once this year with the Mavs earning a 163-135 win on Dec. 12.
