IOWA CITY, IA. - Omaha Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving competed over four days at the Summit League Championships, finishing third overall.
The Mavericks crowned one individual champion, captured the team diving title and broke nine school records during the event.
Freshman
Addisyn Storms (Omaha, Neb.) and
Brady Wainionpaa (Hudson, WI) each set two school records.
Storms posted times of 1:02.50 in the 100 breaststroke and 2:14.58 in the 200 breaststroke. She earned All-Summit League honors with a second-place finish in the 200 breast.
Wainionpaa recorded program records in the 200 individual medley (1:48.83) and 400 individual medley (3:59.50). It marked the third time this season he has broken a school record.
Jadeon Carter, a freshman from Lincoln, Neb., set a school record in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:52.55. It was the fifth time during the 2025-26 season Carter has broken a program record.
Freshman Ben Bryzelak added a school record in the 400 individual medley, finishing in 3:59.54, while
Grant Schaeffer clocked a 44.50 in the 100 freestyle.
The 800 freestyle relay team of junior
Kyle Kulow (Sugar Land, Texas), Schaeffer, senior
Michael Johnson (Chandler, Ariz.) and sophomore
Aidin Kolb (Pickrell, Neb.) placed third, earned All-Summit honors and set a school record with a time of 6:38.80.
The 200 freestyle relay team of senior
Jace Walker (Houston, Texas), Schaeffer, freshman
Mason Zadina (Omaha, Neb.) and senior
Will McCabe (Derby, Kan.) finished second, earning All-Summit recognition and breaking the program record in 1:19.08.
On the boards, sophomore
Owen Kipp (Eagan, Minn.) claimed the 1-meter title with a score of 323.35. He followed with a second-place finish and All-Summit honors in the 3-meter.
Kipp, freshman
Nathan Frette (Lake Buena Vista, Fla.) and
Stone Larson (St. Paul, Minn.) captured the team diving championship with a score of 347.85.
"Our team competed with heart all week long," said head coach
Jessica Hessel. "We stayed united, celebrating the highs, pushing through the challenges and finishing with so much to be proud of. For the first time, our men's team pulled ahead to earn a top-three finish, joining our women in that respected placement. What an incredible moment for our program."
"It's always bittersweet saying goodbye to our seniors, but they led with strength, composure and pride. They showed up for this team in every way, and their impact will be felt long after this season. The future is bright in Omaha. We're proud to welcome a new group of alumni who will continue to support our Mavs for years to come. Once a Maverick, always a Maverick," Hessel continued.
"This was a great week for our divers," said diving coach
Eric Sprague, the 2026 Summit League Men's Diving Coach of the Year. "A meet like this is stressful and it can be hard to maintain composure and perform to your potential in a championship environment, but this group didn't let that affect them and got it done all week.
Owen Kipp winning diving MVP was obviously a highlight for us, but every diver found a way to score points for the team throughout the week. On the men's side William Mueller was very sharp all week making finals on both boards,
Brecken Moran had a great 3-meter event, but the highlight for me was watching
Nathan Frette,
Stone Larson, Owen and get the win in the team event by just .70 points over Denver. "
"The women had an incredible week as well with a 3rd place finish in their team event and matching the men with five divers making finals throughout their events.
Bella Price led us all week with third and fourth-place finishes and
Brooke Robbins made finals on both boards for the second straight season. It was great to see
Ava Snyder make her first finals appearance and grab sixth place on 1-meter. Samantha Klein,
Ava Johnson and
Bronwyn Minnick provided incredible depth and made it hard for other programs to find a position in semi-finals.
"This was an incredible season and we only graduate two seniors from group. Bella and Sam will be missed greatly, but the future is bright in the diving well. Looking forward to seeing what we can do next season," Sprague continued.
