WARRENSBURG, Mo. –  The fifth ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team was upset Thursday night by Central Missouri 3-1 at the South Recreation Complex in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association action.
With the win Central Missouri improves to 5-1-1 and 3-0 in MIAA play, while Nebraska-Omaha drops to 3-1 and 1-1 in MIAA action.  This also marks the first time the Jennies were able to beat the Mavericks.  Central Missouri was 0-8 in the previous meetings.   
After playing to a scoreless first half, the Jennies scored three goals in just over fourteen mintues to pull away from the Mavs.  The Jennies used a strong performance from Sharaya Sidebottom who netted the opening goal and assisted the two others. 
The Mavericks avoided the shutout when junior #Mykala Hanson# beat Central Missouri goalkeeper Lauren Bamvakais on an unassisted goal in the 68th minute.
The Mavericks lost despite statistically outplaying the Jennies.  UNO out-shot Central Missouri 13-7, including a 10-4 edge in the second half. The Mavs also held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
UNO will look to bounce back from its first loss of the season as they return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20 when they host MIAA foe Missouri Southern (2-4, 0-3 MIAA) at the UNO Soccer Field at 1 p.m.
