ST. JOSEPH, Mo. –  Senior Casey Bigsby scored the game-winning goal in the second straight game as the sixth ranked University of Nebraska at Omaha soccer team defeated Missouri Western 1-0 in Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association action Thursday evening at Riverside Field.

The goal came just 47 seconds into the match when senior MaryClaire Murnan passed to an open Bigsby, who unloaded a shot on goal past Missouri Western goalkeeper Jenna Weis in the right corner.  

The Mavs (3-0) outplayed the Griffons (1-3-1) and were able to control the ball most of the match.  UNO had a commanding 22-6 advantage in shots, including a 14-2 lead in the first half.  The Mavericks also posted a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.

In goal, sophomore Lauren Fox made three saves, all in the second half, posting her second shutout in three games.

The Mavericks will continue their road trip in Missouri with a noon showdown on Saturday, Sept. 13 against no. 16 Truman State (5-0) in Kirksville, Mo.
