Runners Finish Third at UNO/CU Invitational

OMAHA, Neb. - The University of Nebraska at Omaha women's cross country team opened up its 2007 season with a third place finish at the UNO/Creighton Invitational, held at Chalco Hills Recreational Area on Saturday.

Senior Kaylen Harris (Bellevue, Neb.) led all Maverick runners with a fourth place finish in the 5,000-meter race with a time of 19:14.

Senior Tahnee Tuenge (North Platte, Neb.) Jana Brons (Denver, Colo.) and Nicole Nelson (Omaha, Neb.) finished seventh, thirteenth and fourteenth, respectively, to round out the top 14 finishers.

Maverick freshman Lisa Tesarek (Omaha, Neb.) had a 25th place finish, while sophomore Allison Hartnett (Omaha, Neb.) finished 31st.

Nebraska-Lincoln captured the women's team title along with the individual champion. NU's Lara Crofford was the women's individual champion, finishing the race with a time of 18:34. Creighton captured the men's team title. Iowa Western Community College's David Barmasai finished first in the 8,000-meter race with a time of 27:20.
