Meader's Goal, Bunker's Clean Sheet Tame Bison

OMAHA, Neb. – Senior Abby Meader posted her fifth career goal and goalkeeper Erin Bunker garnered her third shutout of the season as the Mavericks won 1-0 over North Dakota State on Thursday night at Caniglia Field.
 
The victory moves Omaha to 4-7-1 overall and 1-1 in Summit League play while the Bison drop to 6-5-1 (1-1-0).

How It Happened
  • The Mavericks worked quickly when Jaden Thiem dished to Meader on the left side before the senior crossed up a Bison defender and snuck the ball into the left post for the early one-goal advantage.
  • Omaha almost extended its lead when Bailey Cascio's header launched into the top shelf of the net, but the attempt was poked away by the leaping NDSU keeper in the 58th minute.
  • Laurin Mertz broke free from the NDSU on pair of occasions that nearly doubled the Maverick lead.
  • In the 79th minute, Mertz got free on the right side and her dribbling attempt almost ricocheted off the NDSU goalkeeper for the goal, but the keeper re-gained possession of the ball to deny the goal.
  • Mertz worked her way around the Bison defense in the 86th minute on the left side to seal the victory, but the attempt landed wide right of the net.

  • The Mavericks outshot the Bison 8-6 in the second half while both teams attempted 11 shots in the contest.
  • Meader becomes the seventh Maverick to net a goal this season while Thiem moves to a tie for first in the Summit League with her fourth assists of the year.
