OMAHA, Neb. — Omaha Baseball couldn't cash in early opportunities against St. Thomas, dropping the second game of a three-game weekend Summit League series, 11-5, Saturday at Tal Anderson Field.
The rubber game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday at Tal Anderson Field. The game will stream live on the Summit League Network beginning at 12:45 p.m.
Second-place Omaha (14-20, 9-7) had the leadoff hitter on base in each of the first three innings against Tommies starter Owen Marsolek, who allowed only a two-run homer by Jackson Trout through the first seven innings.
St. Thomas (8-29, 5-11 Summit) pestered Mavericks starter Maddox Meyer for eight hits over five innings of work. Meyer allowed three runs with one walk and four strikeouts in the loss, falling to 3-4. The Tommies got to the Omaha bullpen for eight runs the rest of the way.
Three Mavericks had multi-hit games, paced by Henry Zipay, who doubled on the first pitch of the game and finished 2 for 4 at the plate. Designated hitter Mason Gaines and shortstop Edoardo Cornelli each went 2 for 4.
