Kipp concludes 2025-26 campaign in historic fashion

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – After a standout sophomore season, Omaha's Diver Owen Kipp (Eagan, Minn.), and Maverick team captain was named Summit League Diver of the Year, the league announced Thursday.

Kipp becomes the first male diver in program history to earn the honor. Monica Houck previously captured the league's female Diver of the Year award in 2017-18.

During the 2025-26 campaign, Kipp earned two Summit League Kwik Star Peak Diver of the Week honors and was named Summit League Championship MVP after claiming the 1-meter title at the 2026 Summit League Championships.

Following his conference performance, Kipp advanced to the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in College Station, Texas, where he qualified for the 1-meter final, becoming just the second Maverick in program history to reach the event.

"Congratulations to Owen on his recognition as Diver of the Year from the Summit League, this is a very big honor, and he is deserving of it," said Omaha diving coach Eric Sprague. "Owen showed up ready to go from day one in the fall and was impressive right out of the gate with personal best performances in four of his first five events this season.  Owen proceeded to end the season just as strong with his Diving MVP performance at the conference championship.  In addition to being a leader for us on the boards, Owen is also a team captain and provides great leadership for the program with the examples he sets and how he treats others.  Congrats again Owen, we couldn't be prouder of what you accomplished this season!"
