COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Omaha men's and women's diving competed over two days at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships in College Station, Texas.
On March 9, freshman
Nathan Frette made program history by becoming the first Omaha diver to qualify for a final at the NCAA Zone D Diving Championships. Frette posted a score of 284.65 in the 3-meter preliminary round and finished with a score of 574.05 after the final.
Frette continued his strong showing on day two, advancing to the 1-meter final.
Sophomore
Owen Kipp, the 1-meter champion at the 2026 Summit League Championships and the Summit League Diving Championship MVP, joined Frette on Tuesday afternoon, also qualifying for the 1-meter final.
Also competing in the 1-meter prelims was junior
Will Mueller (218.95), freshman
Stone Larson (218.55), and sophomore
Ava Snyder (201.80).
"This was a positive way to finish to finish what I would consider our most successful season yet," said diving coach
Eric Sprague, the 2026 Summit League Men's Diving Coach of the Year. We usually have a diver or two make this meet and to show up with five divers this week was a great accomplishment.
Ava Snyder,
Will Mueller,
Owen Kipp,
Stone Larson and
Nathan Frette managed the stress of the environment well and showed we are still a program on the rise. I thought we would be in position to get someone in finals for the first time ever at this meet and I was so happy to see Owen make it on one meter and Nathan do it on both boards. I feel like this crew is breaking down barriers and setting new standards for us on a regular basis."
"They're a motivated group that wants to accomplish the biggest goals and with the lessons we learned this week I know they'll grow from it and continue to push the boundaries. It's time to take a step back as the school year comes to an end to get everyone a little healthier, focus on some finer details and work for more consistency as we prepare for next season. We appreciate everyone's support and look forward to continuing the advancement of the Omaha swim and dive team," Sprague continued.
