OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Baseball (8-14, 4-2 Summit) dropped a close one-run contest against Creighton (10-11) at Charles Schwab Field Omaha on Tuesday night, March 24.
Creighton struck first in the second inning on an RBI single to right-center, but Omaha answered immediately in the third.
Tyler Bishop lifted a sacrifice fly to right field to even the score before
Nick Riggs broke it open with a three-run shot to right, scoring
Jackson Trout and
Chase Diggins to give the Mavericks a 4-1 lead.
Omaha added another run in the fourth when
Henry Zipay singled to left field to score
Sam Beck, extending the lead to 5-1.
Creighton trimmed the deficit in the bottom half of the inning. Wachsmann delivered an RBI triple to right-center, and a sacrifice fly brought him home to make it 5-3.
The Mavericks added a run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly from
Cardel Dick that scored Trout and pushed the lead to 6-3, but Creighton added four runs in the final two innings to secure a 7-6 win.
On the mound, Omaha combined for 11 strikeouts through the first six innings. Starter
Michael Sall worked four innings, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out four.
Brayden Curtis tossed two scoreless innings with five strikeouts and just one hit allowed.
