OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha Men's Basketball (12-12, 5-4 Summit), currently riding a three-game win streak, heads north to face the Fighting Hawks of North Dakota on Thursday, Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. CT. The Mavericks conclude the trip on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 1 p.m. CT in Fargo to battle first-place North Dakota State. Gary Sharp has the call on 1290 KOIL in Omaha or the Varsity Network. Ja'Sean Glover provided the spark to a comeback from 13 points down in the second half Saturday afternoon in the Mile High City. Paul Djobet then helped the Mavericks survive a frantic final minute as Omaha earned an 84-82 win over Denver. In a fast-paced game that featured wild swings of momentum, Omaha never lost its lead in the final minute even after Denver cut the Maverick lead to one twice in the final 31 seconds. Djobet finished with a career-best 27 points and 11 rebounds for his third consecutive double-double.
Four Mavericks reached double figures at Denver Saturday, the 10th time this season four or more Mavericks eclipsed the mark. Omaha is 8-2 in those games.
Paul Djobet is the first Maverick since Matt Pile to record three consecutive double-doubles. Pile recorded a trio of double-doubles from Dec. 8-11, 2019.
Djobet became the second Maverick this season after Lance Waddles to be named Summit League Peak Performer of the Week. Djobet was the only Summit League hooper to finish with a double-double twice last week as the Mavericks stretched the win streak to three. The Lille, France product averaged 21.5 p.p.g. and 10.5 r.p.g. in over 65 minutes in a pair of starts. Djobet was the lone Summit League player to post two games of 10 or more rebounds last week. He recorded the second-most rebounds in the league from Jan. 28-31 with 21 total boards. His 18 defensive rebounds paced the conference.
Since joining the DI ranks, Omaha is 16-4 against the Fighting Hawks. Omaha has won four straight against UND dating to March 2024 and five of the last six meetings. Since 1979, Omaha is 45-44 against the Fighting Hawks with a mark of 13-26 in Grand Forks.
Omaha returns home Thursday, Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. CT to face St. Thomas in a rematch of last season's Summit League title game before welcoming Denver on Sunday, Feb. 15 on CBS Sports Network at 12 p.m. CT.
