Sioux Falls, S.D. - Omaha Swimming and Diving sophomore
Owen Kipp (Eagan, Minn.) was named the Summit League's Kwik Star Peak Divers of the Week, it was announced Tuesday after competing at the Coyote Invite.
This is the second time this season Kipp has earned Kwik Star Peak Diver of the week.
Earlier in the season, Kipp was given the honor after winning the 3-meter dive event and set a personal best with a mark of 353.40 points on Oct. 10 against Iowa Western and Saint Mary.
This past weekend at South Dakota, Kipp won the 3-meter with a score of 313.30 and placing second in the 1-meter with 268.30 points. Kipp ranks second on the Summit League's 3-meter diving list with a season-best score of 353.40, trailing only teammate
Nathan Frette (371.40).
"Congratulations to Owen for being recognized as the Summit League Diver of the Week for the second time this season," said Omaha diving coach
Eric Sprague. "His final score Friday was a little down from his season average on 1-meter and you could see his frustration in that, but he showed up locked-in and performed more to his standard on Saturday on 3-meter. It was nice to see Owen dive with great determination throughout the weekend, and he has a lot of positives to take into the last few weeks of the season."
The Mavericks return to action for the Omaha Dive Invite, hosted at H&K Pool from Feb. 6-7. On Friday, the competition will begin at 6 p.m. CT and 12:30 p.m. CT Saturday.
