SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Omaha sophomore
Owen Kipp (Eagan, Minnesota) was named the Summit League Diving Championship MVP following an outstanding performance at the 2026 Summit League Championships.
This is the first time in program history that a Maverick has earned the honor.
During the 2025-26 season, Kipp recorded three first-place finishes, earned Summit League Kwik Star Peak Diver of the Week honors twice and is an NCAA Zone qualifier in the 3-meter.
At the Summit League Championships in Iowa City, Iowa, Kipp claimed the 1-meter individual title with a score of 323.35.
He followed with a second-place finish in the 3-meter to earn All-Summit League honors.
Kipp also helped lead Omaha to the team diving title with a combined score of 347.85.
"Congratulations to Owen for winning diver of the championship," said diving coach
Eric Sprague. "This is a program first for us and Owen has worked hard since his arrival on campus two years ago to put himself in this position. Owen's performance throughout the week was as focused and clutch as anything I've seen."
"He kicked the week off the first night of competition by winning the one-meter event, which was another program first for us, and then the next night puts in his final dive in the men's diving team event to pass up Denver and give Omaha the win by just .70 points. Owen wrapped up his week with another impressive performance and program first on 3-meter when he finished in second place. I'm proud of the progress Owen's made in the pool, but he's also our team captain and as only a sophomore it's impressive how he leads the team through his thoughts, words and actions. Congrats again, Owen," Sprague continued.
