Mavericks continue road stretch with Dodge Street Derby and Bradley

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha men's soccer (0-3-1) continues its four-game road trip Wednesday when the Mavericks face crosstown rival Creighton in the 2025 Dodge Street Derby at 7:45 p.m. CT on ESPN+ at Morrison Stadium in Omaha. After the tilt with the Bluejays (1-2-2), Omaha heads to Peoria, Ill. for a fixture at Bradley (1-2-2).

About Omaha

Omaha travels "down the street" to face the Bluejays after battling regional foe Drake to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday, Sept. 3 in Des Moines, Iowa. For the second time in 2025, Omaha opened the scoring with sophomore forward Bradley Takamo (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) booting the service from graduate student midfielder Yoshiki Igarashi (Tokyo, Japan) off a set piece in the 39th minute against the Bulldogs. Takamo owns both of the Mavs' goals this season (FIU).

Senior Cole Stewart (Lee's Summit, Mo.) has emerged as Donovan Dowling's starter in goal having made each of the last three starts for the black and red. Stewart recorded a season-best four saves at Drake, totaling 10 on the young season through 270 minutes.

Omaha trails Creighton in the all-time series, 1-5-2 with the first meeting coming on Sept. 6, 2016. The BIG EAST side emerged victorious by a 2-1 tally in the most recent meeting on Oct. 9, 2024 at Caniglia Field. Creighton is 3-0-1 in the last four meetings.

The Mavericks are 5-3 all-time against the Bradley Braves, with Omaha coming out on top in two of the last four meetings, the most recent occurring on Sept. 9, 2022.
 
Scouting Creighton

Omaha and Creighton share two mutual opponents in the early non-conference slate with both sides heading to Florida to face FIU and Florida Atlantic over the opening weekend. Creighton fell to the Owls 3-0 and tied the Panthers 1-1. The Bluejays enter Wednesday's derby after defeating Summit League member then-(RV) Denver 3-0 at Morrison Stadium.

Creighton, picked second in the BIG EAST Conference Midwest Division Preseason Poll, returns 17 members of its 2024 team including six starters. Junior midfielder Miguel Arilla leads the Bluejays with two of the team's three 2025 goals. Senior defender Ryusei Shimonishi has been a mainstay on the backline for sixth-year head coach Johnny Torres (50-41-21, .540), playing all 360 minutes in 2025 with a pair of shots.
 
Scouting Bradley

Bradley enters Saturday's match 1-1-1 in its last three outings. The team's five 2025 goals have come from five different goal scorers. Midfielder Nokkvi Hjorvarsson and forward DJ Koulai lead the team with three points each. Head coach Tim Regan is in his second season leading the Braves and owns a 5-10-6 (.381) record as a head coach.
