IOWA CITY, Iowa - Omaha Women's Golf finished ninth of 16 teams Tuesday at the 54-hole Diane Thompson Invitational, hosted by Iowa. The two-day event took place at the par 72 Finkbine Golf Course which played 6,437 yards.
Mavericks senior
Katie Ruge (Omaha, Neb.) was the lone Omaha golfer to finish inside the top 10, coming in second to mark her highest individual finish of the season to date. Ruge shot rounds of 72 (E), 73 (+1) and 72 (E) to finish 1-over on the week with 10 birdies, the fourth most overall at the event.
Ruge logged four birdies each in the first and final rounds of play.
Now in her second campaign with the Mavericks, Ruge was the second-best golfer in the field on par-4 holes, averaging 4.03 strokes behind the leader, Montana State's Lauren Greeny (3.97).
Ruge averaged 2-under-par on par-5 holes and senior
Emily Karmazin (Omaha, Neb.) made par 37 times, tied for ninth-most overall.
