OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha volleyball will face its first road test of the season at the Flo Hyman Classic hosted by Houston on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
The weekend will kickoff with LSU on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. CT. The Mavs will face the hosts on Friday at 7 p.m. CT. Saturday will bring a matinee match against San Diego State at 1 p.m. CT.
The Mavericks will face two new opponents over the weekend with LSU and San Diego State. They have faced Houston twice before. They first met in 2018 when the Cougars swept Omaha 3-0 (33-31, 25-19, 25-23). Last season, Houston won 3-2 (25-20, 16-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-7) in a home match for the Mavs.
Omaha started the season with a perfect home weekend against Milwaukee. The Mavericks took game one on Friday, Aug. 29 in three sets with scores of 25-16, 25-20 and 25-18. On Saturday, Aug. 30, Omaha once again swept the Pnathers in three sets with scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-21.
After one weekend of play, Omaha leads the conference in six stat categories (points, opponent hitting percentage, hitting percentage, assists, opponent kills and kills).
Kali Jurgensmeier leads the Summit League in hitting percentage (.538). The senior from Wahoo, Neb. siths 15
th nationally in the same category.
Ella Tiarks (.485) and
Faith Venable (.385) round out the top three in the league.
Live stats will be available for all three matches, but only Friday's match against Houston will be shown on ESPN+. Tickets are available for all three matches,
