OMAHA, NEB. – Omaha women's soccer (2-1-2) is set to kick off against Drake on Sept. 3, in Des Moines, Iowa followed by a weekend trip to Norman Oklahoma to face No. 19 Oklahoma on Sept. 7.
- The Mavericks opened their 2025 season unbeaten through their first four matches but suffered their first loss Sunday evening, falling 2-1 to Nebraska on Aug. 31.
- Freshman forward Kendall Dobberstein (Gretna, Neb.) sparked the Mavericks' lone goal in the 62nd minute, sending a corner kick into the box. Freshman defender Presley Douglas (Elkhorn, Neb.) headed it across to sophomore defender Isabelle Milne (Barrie, Ontario), who finished it for her first goal of the season, cutting the deficit to one.
- Graduate forward Payten Ivins (West Haven, Utah) leads the team with two goals through five games. Sophomore midfielder Blanche Vacchiani Brethes (Paris, France) and senior forward Lauren Schmidt (La Vista, Neb.) have each recorded two assists, while K. Dobberstein has tallied three.
- Goalkeeper Hayley Ogden (Lehi, Utah) has made two key saves on 11 shots faced, allowing just one goal in matches against SIUE and Nebraska. She holds a .800 save percentage across three starts.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
Omaha will face Drake for the 10th time after their most recent meeting in September 2024, when the Mavericks earned a 2-0 victory over the Bulldogs at Caniglia Field. Omaha holds a 5-4 advantage in the all-time series, with two of those wins coming on the road.
Drake enters the matchup against Omaha with a 2-2-2 record. Senior forward Eve Blakey has led the Bulldogs' attack, scoring five goals, including a two-goal performance against Western Illinois a match Drake recorded its most goals in a single match since 2015.
Blakey was named Missouri Valley Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday, Aug. 26, marking her first accolade with the program.
Following the matchup with Drake, Omaha will face No. 19 Oklahoma on Sunday afternoon. The Sooners are 6-0-0 heading into their Sept. 4 game against Texas State, marking their best start since 2022 and only the second 6-0 start in program history.
Sophomore forward Kayla Keefer has scored in three of Oklahoma's six matches and tallied two assists. Junior goalkeeper Caroline Duffy has recorded three clean sheets.
Omaha travels to Norman Oklahoma to face Oklahoma on Sept. 3rd at John Crain Field at 1 p.m.
