OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha volleyball swept Milwaukee, 3-0, to close out a weekend at home on Saturday afternoon.
The Mavericks (2-0) have yet to drop a set this season. They took the first set over the Panthers 25-13. The second and third sets brought more of a fight for the Mavs, but they didn't back down. Omaha won the second set 25-22 and the third and final set 25-21.
Omaha finished the match with an attack percentage of .347, over twice as high as Milwaukee who ended the match at .165. The Mavericks also recorded 46 digs compared to the Panthers 38.
Sophomore
Sarah Galligan and freshman
Faith Venable accounted for 12 of those digs each.
Kali Jurgensmeier led the Mavs offense with 15 kills in 24 attempts. The senior also assisted in two blocks to tally 17 points across all three sets. Venable and sophomore
Ella Tiarks each tallied 10 kills.
Junior
Emily Huss added three block assists to her season total. Omaha and Milwaukee each recorded five team blocks with neither team having a solo block.
Two games in, the Mavericks attack percentage is sitting at .349 with an average of 15.3 kills per set.
Omaha will head out on the road for three matches in three days in Houston, Texas. Thursday will bring LSU, Friday will be Houston, the the Mavs will round out the week with San Diego State on Saturday.
