OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha volleyball prepares for its final tune-up of the season with an exhibition against Missouri at 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 23 at Baxter Arena.
Matt Buttermore's Mavericks enter 2025 coming off a 2024 season that saw them go 17-13 overall with a conference mark of 14-2. The Mavs return
Kali Jurgensmeier (Wahoo, Neb.) who was named to the All-Summit League First Team and led Omaha with 362 kills in 2024. They also retained
Emily Huss (Fairbury, Neb.) who totaled 113 blocks in 2024 and Julis Owens (Tempe, Ariz.) who finished second on the team with 405 assists and 31 service aces.
In 2024, the Mavs out-attacked their opponents with 1,462 kills over 1,297 for an average of 12.7 kills per set. Omaha also tallied 1,343 assists over opponent's 1,211 for an average of 11.7 per set.
On the defensive side, the Mavericks recorded 1,551 digs through 30 matches with an average of 13.5 per set. They recorded 42 solo blocks and 461 assisted blocks for an average of 2.4 per set.
Buttermore added seven newcomers in the offseason.
Faith Venable (Lincoln, Neb.),
Emma Nash (Overland Park, Kan.),
Grace Fuger (Idaho Falls, Idaho), Lara Marić (Brisbane, Australia) and
Jordyn Anderson (Ludington, Mich.) make up the freshman class while David Guetterman (Louisburg, Kan.) and
Torrey Tkach (Oxford, Miss.) join as transfers.
Omaha will welcome Missouri to Baxter Arena off an NCAA tournament appearance that had the Tigers losing to three-seed Kentucky in the third round.
After the match, Omaha players and coaches will be available for interviews. Fans are welcome to bring memorabilia for the Mavs to sign.
The Mavs welcome Milwaukee next week to begin the regular season. The official home opener kicks off at 7 p.m. CT on Friday, Aug. 29 and play continues at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 30. Click
