Gleason and 4x100 Team Enter the Record Books at the USD Tune Up

May 3, 2025

Vermillion, S.D. - The Omaha track and field team set multiple personal records Friday and Saturday as Tania Gleason led the team with personal bests in two events.

"Our ladies showed up and showed out in what would be the best weather conditions we've had all year," said head coach Cliff Cisar. "In what would look like a conference preview meet, I was very happy with how we didn't let ourselves get in our own way and instead trusted the work and the process and the results speak for themselves."

Meredith Richter (4:41.63), Maya Bergstrom (4:47.39), Sydney Beaudin (4:59.97) all set personal records in the 1500 meters on Friday.

Emma Klein entered the record books in the long jump with a distance of 5.59 meters (18' -4.25"), tying her for 10th in program history.

In the 100-meter hurdles, Jade Jackson ran a season-best with a time of 14.81 seconds.

The 4x100-meter relay team of Emma Klein, Avyn Urbanski, Ashley Ostrand, and Tania Gleason ran the fourth fastest time in program history with a time of 46.20 seconds.

Gleason also entered the record books in the 200-meter dash. Gleason now has the seventh fastest time in program history with a personal record time of 24.50 seconds and a fourth-place finish.

Avyn Urbanski (24.91 seconds) and Ashley Ostrand (25.62 seconds) also set personal records in the 200-meter dash.

"With two individuals (Tania Gleason & Emma Klein) who either moved up or into individual top ten lists and the highlight of our 4x100 meter team running a spectacular race to etch their name in program history (4th) amongst names that have represented Omaha in multiple national meets and even the Olympics is pretty special," said Cisar. "There were highlights all over this weekend, but I am excited to get back to work this week as we work hard to prepare ourselves for the home stretch of the season."

Three more Mavericks set personal records in the 400-meter dash as well. Ava Robinson finished in 10th place with a time of 57.32 seconds.

Macy Persinger finished just behind with a time of 57.47 seconds and Jocelynn Skoda crossed the line at 57.58 seconds.

The Omaha track and field team will return to action on May 9 for the ISU Twilight in Ames, Iowa hosted by Iowa State.
