Vermillion, South Dakota - The Omaha track and field team left the final day of the Summit League Outdoor Championships with multiple personal records and season bests.
"The Outdoor Conference Championships always throw various levels of adversity your way," said head coach Cliff Cisar. "This year was no different with a full day being moved and all events today being finals by time. It presented us with a unique challenge and I was impressed by how our ladies stepped up and ran some of their best marks when it mattered most.
Emma Klein and Avyn Urbanski led the team as Klein finished in sixth in the triple jump and Urbanski finished in seventh in the 100-meter dash.
In the triple jump, Klein marked 11.85 meters (38' 10.50") and Ali Wiseman scored a personal record of 11.28 meters (37' 00.25").
Urbanski finished the 100-meter dash in 11.80 seconds. Tania Gleason finished just behind in the 100 meters in ninth place with a time of 11.91 seconds. Ashley Ostrand finished with a personal record of 12.25 seconds.
Gleason also went on to finish eighth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.52 seconds.
"Individual scoring performances by Emma Klein, Tania Gleason, and Avyn Urbanski were incredibly impressive and charged up the group throughout the afternoon," said Cisar
"Although wind aided, the hurdlers (Jade Jackson, Grace Mustard, & Lilly Smith) all ran career bests."
In the 100 meter hurdles Jade Jackson, Grace Mustard, and Lilly Smith all finished with personal bests. Jackson finished in 11th place with a time of 14.25 seconds and Mustard finished just behind at 14.47 seconds. Smith crossed the line at 14.88 seconds.
Jocelynn Skoda finished strong in the last race of her freshman campaign. Skoda finished with a personal record and the 10th fastest time in program history in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.33 seconds.
Ava Robinson also finished with a personal record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.23 seconds.
The 4x400-meter team of Macy Persinger, Jocelynn Skoda, Ashley Ostrand, and Ava Robinson finished in seventh with a season-best time of 3:51.38.
In the 800 meters Meredith Richter finished in 12th place with a time of 2:15.74. Julia Thomas finished just behind with a personal record of 2:18.75.
Lily Schwartz went on to run her second fastest time of the season in the 1500 meters. Schwartz finished in 10th place with a time of 4:43.44.
Carrington Hessen also finished with a personal record in her final race of the season. Hessen finished the 5000 meters in 18:27.01.
"With the season coming to a close, I just couldn't help but to take a moment to reflect and be proud of all the growth this program has achieved since August," said Cisar. "With well over 100 PRs and 18 athletes either moving on or up on our programs top 10 lists throughout the year, this group's work ethic and determination has set up the next year's team for great success. I can't wait for these athletes to enjoy some well earned rest and relaxation, but I'm more than ever excited to get back at it next Fall!"
The Mavericks will be back in action in August for the 2025 fall season.
