Box Score OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks were at their best in today's home finale as they blanked Marquette 7-0 on Senior Day. This is the second time this year Omaha shutout an opponent, last doing so against Saint Louis back on February 8.

Omaha is now 9-9 on the season, while the Golden Eagles drop to 3-17.

Mikhail Korkunov was the team's lone senior honored today before the match. With two more wins today, the four-year Maverick now has 72 career singles and doubles wins.

"Today was an awesome day, being able to celebrate Mischa and to end the day with a 7-0 win," stated Head Coach Hunter Clark. "There couldn't be a better way to end the home match season."

Korkunov and Bryan Kuntz got the day started with 6-4 comeback victory in the first doubles match, followed by another win from Caleb Peterson and Christian Trevey who recovered after letting a 4-1 lead slip away by finishing things off in tiebreakers 7-5.

Peterson would quickly claim the first win of the singles round as he made short work of his opponent 6-1, 6-2. Korkunov was next as he finished off his final career match at Miracle Hill with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Cyrus Ahmad. 

Pavan Uppu would score the next win after coming back from two-point deficits in both sets en route to a 6-2, 6-4 win. Kuntz followed up with a 6-3, 6-3 victory.

The final two singles matches proved to be the closest of the day, as Trevey bounced back from a 6-4 loss in the opening set by taking set two 6-3 before finishing off Remi St-Laurent in a lengthy tiebreaker set that saw them tied eight times until Trevey finally pulled away in the end to win it 11-9. Ethan Gaubert finished off the shutout in similar fashion as he came back from an opening set loss by cruising to a 6-3 win in the second set before coming back from a 4-1 deficit and closing out the match 10-7 in set three.

"The guys stepped up after a tough loss yesterday and we can't wait to get back on the court next week," added Clark.

With the home slate complete, Omaha will finish the regular season on the road. First up is another non-conference matchup at Air Force on Thursday, April 3, at 5 p.m.
