Johnson and Strako lead men's golf at Bell Bank "Pay It Forward" Collegiate

LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. - Omaha men's golf finished 10th of 16 teams at the Bell Bank "Pay it Forward" Collegiate, hosted by Minnesota from March 24-25 at the Wigwam Resort.

Omaha finished the event +9, though the Mavericks would close things out 3-under in the final round Tuesday, the fourth-lowest team score in the final 18.

Nolan Johnson led Omaha finishing 24th overall, shooting a 70 (-2) on Tuesday. Johnson went 69 (-3), 77 (+5) and 70 (-2) to finish even on the week. Luke Strako was the other Maverick to finish inside the top 40 at +4 with scores of 73 (+1), 76 (+4) and 71 (-1).

Strako made birdie on five holes in the front nine in Tuesday's final round to head to the second nine -3. Omaha had two eagles in the final round by Johnson (par-5 first) and Spencer Clatt (par-4 seventh).

The par-72 course played 7,021 yards. 

Omaha tied with crosstown rival Creighton for the 10th most birides in the event at 45. Johnson's 11 birdies in 54 holes led Omaha and was good for T23 in the tournament.

Iowa State finished -27 to take the team title and the Cyclones' Zachary May finished atop the individual leaderboard at -10, including 6-under in the final round.

Omaha men's golf returns to action on Friday, April 18 in the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate hosted by Ohio State in Columbus, Ohio.
