Around the Horn
• Omaha went 0-3 last weekend at Oral Roberts and has now lost six in a row to open conference play. Sunday's game was the closest of the series, as Omaha twice made it a two-run game on a sac fly from
Tyler Bishop in the fifth and an RBI single in the seventh.
• With his hit in the seventh, Bishop extends his on-base streak to eight games in a row.
•
Maddox Meyer and
Oliver Mabee were the only Mavericks pitchers last week to pitch multiple innings without allowing an earned run. Meyer went three scoreless innings with just one hit allowed to start Sunday's game, while Mabee was brought in to pitch the seventh and eighth and blanked the Golden Eagles to keep Omaha in the game.
•
Henry Zipay remains one of the top hitters in the Summit League, slashing .455/.520/.591 (1.111 OPS) with three doubles through the first two weeks of conference play. He now has a five-game hitting streak, recording multiple hits in four of those games. On the season, he owns nine multi-hit efforts, including four with at least three hits.
•
Jackson Trout saw his six-game hitting streak come to an end Sunday after previously going 8-for-23 (.348) during the streak.
• Along with Zipay (.455) and Bishop (.368), Trout (.304) is one of three Mavericks currently hitting over .300 in conference play. Bishop's team-leading 1.132 OPS is good for third place in the league.
