Innings 1-3
After a relatively quiet first couple of innings that saw each team score one run, the Tommies blew the game open in the top of the third with a seven-run inning that saw them hit four doubles and a home run.
Omaha managed to get a couple of runs back in the bottom of the inning, starting with a lead-off home run from
Eli Hoerner for the first of his career, followed by a sac fly from
Trent Burkhalter.
Innings 4-7
St. Thomas got another run in the top of the fourth, before adding 12 more over the next three innings.
The Mavericks would finally break through with their biggest inning of the day in the bottom of the seventh as they batted around the order and scored seven runs.
Tyler Palmer led off the inning with a pinch-hit home run, followed by a bases-loaded hit by pitch from another pinch hitter,
Noah Greise.
Grant Sommers would also come in to pinch hit and knocked an RBI single, before
Cardel Dick, who homered in the sixth, crushed his second career grand slam to center to cap off the rally.
Despite the seven runs, though, this was not enough to stave off the 10-run rule after seven.
