Kipp represents Omaha at NCAA Zone Diving Championships

Mar 11, 2025

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Omaha freshman Owen Kipp represented the Mavericks in the NCAA Zone Diving Championships on Monday afternoon at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Center.

Kipp competed in the men's 1-meter diving preliminaries just after noon CT on Monday. The native of Eagan, Minn., placed 22 in the event, scoring a 245.40.

The sole Summit League diver did not advance out of the preliminary round and will not have the chance to place within the top nine in the finals and represent Omaha at the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.

The lone Maverick diver was also the only athlete still competing between the men's and women's swimming and diving teams, officially concluding the 2024-25 season.

"Owen's season ended yesterday in Iowa City, and he had a great freshman season with nine event wins and set our school record on 1-meter in the process," diving coach Eric Sprague said. "I am excited to see how far he can take this as he has covered the difficulty factor, and we just need to keep cleaning up the little details.  The experience at this level of competition as only a freshman will be very beneficial as he continues his development.  Working with Owen has been a pleasure, and I am really looking forward to the next few seasons we have together.  Congrats on a great year, Owen!"
