WICHITA, Kan. - The Mavericks were unable to replicate their offensive success from yesterday as they were shutout 8-0 by Kansas.
Omaha moves to 3-7 while the Jayhawks are now 9-1.
Innings 1-5
The Jayhawks struck in the bottom of the first with their second grand slam of the series to quickly go up 4-0. Omaha starter
Ben Weber bounced back the next inning with a scoreless second, before allowing just one more run all day on a sac fly in the third. He would retired nine batters in a row between the third and fifth innings, striking out four.
Meanwhile, Omaha's only hit through the first five came courtesy of
Drew Borner in the third.
Innings 6-9
Omaha had its best chance to get on the board in the top of the sixth as
Jackson Trout picked up the team's second hit to put runners on first and second with one out, but ultimately neither runner would get any farther.
Kansas would later tack on three more runs in the seventh and eighth to fully shut the door on the game.
