CLERMONT, Fla. - Omaha women's golf captured the third team title of the 2024-25 campaign Tuesday as the Mavericks went 2-0-1 in the Rust Buster Match Play event co-hosted by Ball State and Murray State at Kings Ridge Golf Club.
Omaha opened with matches against Western Illinois in the first round (OMA won 6-0) and against Murray State in the second frame (OMA won 4-2). The Mavericks tied Ball State in the third and final round Tuesday afternoon 3-3, though Omaha won the event via tiebreaker.
Omaha's six-person lineup featured (in player order):
Katie Ruge,
Macarena Garcia Terron,
Emily Karmazin,
Sydney Taake,
Lavinia Romito and
Emma Kirvan.
The Mavericks made birdie 33 times while ranking first in par this week (185).
In Tuesday's final round, the Mavericks' top three players fell, however Karmazin clawed back to win 4&3 in match No. 4 while Taake won by the same score in the fifth match. Romito went 3&2 in the sixth match to close out the day for Omaha.

The Mavericks return to action next month to take part in the Jackrabbit Invitational, hosted by South Dakota State, beginning March 10.
