"After having a high-energy meet yesterday, I was very impressed with the level of swimming and diving our team put forth today," said head coach
Jessica Hessel. "There was some high level swimming and diving going on in just our first weekend of competing. Hats off to this group. We have a great culture and they love being around each other. These results reflect who they are in and out of the pool."
"I'm impressed with how the divers have approached getting ready for the season and it showed in their performances," said diving coach
Eric Sprague. "Seeing our men and women sweep the diving events against South Dakota State in Lincoln on Friday was a great way to start the season. Congrats to
Ava Snyder for diving composed and picking up the victory on both boards Friday against SDSU. Our women spread out the victories with Bella and Holly splitting event wins Saturday.
Owen Kipp showed he still has his momentum from the end of last season with his 3-meter win Friday and then he secured his zone qualifying scores on both boards Saturday.
Nathan Frette made an impressive debut this season with his win and school record performance on 1-meter Friday. Nathan then turned around and upped the record Saturday, as well as setting the 3-meter record. Stone, Brecken and Will provided great depth helping secure third-place finishes in all the events. We know where we need to focus over the next week and we're excited to host Iowa Western Friday."
