KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Omaha Volleyball defeated Kansas City, 3-1, on the road Tuesday.
The Mavericks (6-11, 3-5 Summit League) closed out the first half of the conference season with the victory over the Roos (3-18, 2-6). Omaha took the first set, 25-20, before just narrowly securing the second set with a score of 25-23. Kansas City took the third set 25-21. In the fourth, the lead was back-and-forth with 13 tie scores and six lead changes, but the Mavericks came out on the other side with a 25-20 win.
Through the first three sets, there was a total of nine tie scores and two lead changes.
Omaha's offense came to Kansas City ready to play. The Mavericks tallied 62 kills, just four short of tying their season high and 24 more than the Roos. The Mavs did tie their season-high with 11 service aces throughout the match.
Freshman
Faith Venable (Lincoln, Neb.) was one short of tying her career-high with five aces. Five aces were her most in a match since Sep. 5 when the Mavericks played Houston. Venable also led the team in kills with 20, her most since Sep. 25 at South Dakota State.
Senior
Kali Jurgensmeier (Wahoo, Neb.) added 15 more kills to her career tally to bring it up to 916.
Once again, junior
Emily Huss (Fairbury, Neb.) led the defense with four assisted blocks.
