DENVER, Colo. – Omaha Volleyball fell to Denver, 3-1, on Saturday.
The Mavericks (5-11, 2-5 Summit League) pulled through in the second set to win 25-20, but the Pioneers (13-5, 5-2) took set one (25-14), set three (26-24) and finally set four (25-18) to secure the victory.
Omaha's blocking had a moment to shine with 14 total team blocks over Denver. The Mavs tallied 22 assisted blocks and three solo blocks. Junior
Emily Huss (Fairbury, Neb.) will remain the Summit League leader in assisted blocks with seven assisted blocks. Huss also recorded one solo block. Senior
Kali Jurgensmeier (Wahoo, Neb.) tied her career high with two solo blocks.
Jurgensmeier recorded 15 kills to bring her career total up to 886. With nine games left in the regular season, the senior will need to average 13 kills per game to hit the milestone of 1,000.
Omaha will head to Kansas City to take on the Roos on Tuesday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m. CT before returning to Baxter Arena on Thursday, Oct. 23 to face St. Thomas and begin the second half of conference play. All matches will be live streamed on the Summit League Network.
