TULSA, Okla. – Omaha Volleyball swept Oral Roberts win on the road Thursday night.
The Mavericks (5-10, 2-4 Summit) played a dominant first set against the Golden Eagles (2-17, 0-7) to win 25-10. Omaha kept swinging in the second set to win 25-17. ORU put up a fight in the third, but the Mavs came out on top with a 25-21 win to seal the match.
Omaha's lead did not waver at all in the first and second sets. In the third, there were three ties scores and two lead changes.
The Mavericks' offense tallied 32 kills with a hitting percentage of .286. Of their 75 points, 11 came from service aces with senior
Kali Jurgensmeier (Wahoo, Neb.) recording five for a career high. Freshman
Faith Venable (Lincoln, Neb.) led the way in kills with eight followed by sophomore Alizabeth Jacobson (Neola, Iowa) with seven and Jurgensmeier with six.
Omaha's defense secured 11 total blocks to Oral Roberts' three. Jacobson led the Mavs in assisted blocks with six. Junior
Emily Huss (Fairbury, Neb.) and Venable had a solo block each.
The Mavericks will stay out on the road to face Denver on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 1 p.m. CT. The match will stream on the Summit League Network.
